Jane's Walk. Walk-and-discussion inspired by the perspective of Jane Jacobs. Gràcia

Laura Mayer i Marc Valero

All Jane’s Walks will follow a similar structure to ensure a coherent and enriching experience. Each route will include visits to four emblematic spaces within the neighbourhood, such as squares, passages, alleyways or other places with symbolic and community value. In addition, interaction will be encouraged with one or two local representatives—such as shopkeepers, long-standing residents or key figures in the neighbourhood—who will share their experiences and knowledge.

The walks will take place across Barcelona’s ten districts, offering diverse perspectives on the city through the unique character of each neighbourhood and the people who live there. Routes will be no longer than one kilometre and will last approximately between one and a half and two hours. Activities will be scheduled primarily during the most favourable times of the year for outdoor events, particularly around the international Jane’s Walk celebrations.

The themes explored will vary from one walk to another, reflecting the realities, identities, and distinctive features of each neighbourhood and community.
