RehaBCN is a non-conventional exhibition proposal focused on distinctive housing refurbishment in Barcelona.
Guided tour of a residential renovation designed by Irene Pérez and Jaume Mayol, members of the studio TEd’A Arquitectes. The architects themselves, together with the programme curator, will lead the visits and present the key aspects of the intervention.
The project addresses the renovation of a through-apartment located on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona, composed of three distinct volumes: two with street façades and one entirely internal.
The intervention is structured around a single gesture: opening the dwelling longitudinally to connect the street with the inner courtyard. To achieve this, the existing partitions are removed and a continuous wooden storage unit is introduced, running from one end of the apartment to the other. Its warm and continuous presence contrasts with the rigorous white palette that defines the interior.
The new flooring is conceived as a material palimpsest. The process begins with the removal of the original flooring, whose pieces are crushed to produce a reddish aggregate that is incorporated into the one-centimetre joints of the new surface. This is executed using hydraulic tiles in the same format as the original ones (13 × 13 cm), establishing a reinterpreted continuity between past and present.
A total of 6 visit slots are scheduled, each lasting 20 minutes and accommodating 10 people. Participants are kindly asked to arrive 10 minutes in advance for an introduction and the distribution of informational materials. Waiting will take place outside the building, located at C. Santa Àgata, 10, Barcelona.
