Revisiting the FAD Awards. Urban itinerary through Poblenou

An urban route through different neighbourhoods of Barcelona that traces the history of the FAD Architecture and Interior Design Awards through their winning, finalist and selected projects.

These tours offer the opportunity to rediscover landmark works while exploring the city’s evolution, linking the awards to the major urban, social and cultural transformations Barcelona has undergone over recent decades. They also provide insight into the leading trends in local and international architecture and the reasons why these projects were recognised.

Throughout the route, participants will discover the significance of the FAD Awards as one of the leading architectural distinctions on the Iberian Peninsula. Each stop includes an introduction to the project, its authors and the historical context in which it was conceived, helping visitors better understand its relevance and impact.

Poblenou

This route focuses on the urban transformations of 21st-century Barcelona through the neighbourhood of Poblenou and the Sant Martí district, one of the city’s foremost laboratories for urban renewal.

The itinerary includes works such as Can Framis, by Jordi Badia and Jordi Framis Ferrer, recipient of the FAD Awards Public Opinion Prize in 2010; Sala Beckett, by Eva Prats and Ricardo Flores, finalist in the 2017 FAD Architecture and Interior Design Awards; and the Mediapro Building, by Carlos Ferrater, Patrick Genard and Xavier Martí, finalist in the 2009 FAD Awards, among other outstanding projects.

Through these works, the tour explores the transformation of a former industrial district into one of Barcelona’s leading hubs for innovation, culture and contemporary architecture.
